7?! Holy Smokes. I have a Middle Schooler...
And a 4th grader, a 2nd grader, and a Kindergartener (he's pretty excited to be "officially" joining the ranks!)

This will be our second year in Classical Conversations and I am looking forward to it.
I feel like I finally have a grasp on how this year should go. Last year was a learning curve, a good one, but a curve nonetheless. It will be nice to have a "general plan" for the year.
I'm going to add lapbooking to our curriculum this year. We've done it before with unit studies, and my kids loved it. So, I decided to buy these lapbooks (only the first 6 weeks to start just to make sure we use them). They look great!
I've been having so much fun!
I truly enjoy the buying, prepping, planning stage of homeschooling.
Now, if only I could keep that excitement throughout the year. ;)

I just wrote a whole comment about CC but think it disappeared. I will summarize this time around... :)
I am looking into a local CC group and was wondering what would you say are CC good/bad points? I know every curriculum has its good and bad points and was wanting your point of view. Do you forsee your family doing this through highschool? How much daily work is involved? Thanks for any input. I have arranged meetings with the local director of the group that is opening in my area but she has cancelled or not shown up twice which is another worry of mine. I will not hold that against the curriculum though. Thanks for any insight.
BTW...hope your little man comes soon. The waiting is the worst! Wishing you a speedy, easy, delivery and quick recovery. :)

Pros:
The curriculum itself. The kids and I learned (and retained!) a ton.
The community. Our family loves being around the other families once a week. Our kids have made friends and enjoy the time they can spend with them in class and at lunch/"recess". The accountability. I often need this.
Cons:
If you want to continue doing everything in your other curriculum on top of doing the CC curriculum, it's going to be tough. We use our previous curriculum in the CC curriculum order...if that makes sense.
Babies/toddlers don't always want to be in nursery.
Parents have to stay the whole time. Sometimes I wish I could just drop them off and grocery shop!
The Pros definitely outweigh the cons at this point in our homeschool journey.
I have no idea if we will do this all the way through high school. It depends on if our community offers high school classes in the future and if we still think it's a good fit for our family.
So far, it has been a wonderful fit and we are looking forward to it year by year.
As far as daily work, we do this as our main curriculum (along with reading, math and handwriting). How long we spend on it per day is similar to how long I'd spend on any curriculum per day. The good thing for me (a spontaneous homeschool mom) is that there is a certain amount of material we have to cover and memorize in a week. It keeps me and the kids on track which has been awesome for our family.
Hope you can meet with the director. I know that they are really busy juggling all the responsibility along with their own family obligations. I'm glad I don't have to do their job!
